What is the base of support?

The base of support for a rider is the seat and the thighs. Even contact between the inner thighs, knee bone, and inner calf is vital for an "educated grip". The seat should be place in the forward part of the saddle and close to the pommel. The rider must feel his seat bones glued down through heaviness and deepness of the seat. The thighs become strong, tight and secure while the seat becomes flexible and feels the harmony with the horse's movements at all times. The goal is to follow the movement loosely and not be stiff and resisting the horses movement of the gates.
