Everything You Need to Know About Riding

Welcome to our equestrian articles page

We firmly believe in educating our students. At Pony Brook all students not only learn how to ride properly, but they learn about all facets of horse education. Here you will find Wilene's point of view on a variety of topic ranging from horseback riding, techniques, and on horses themselves. The more you know about riding, the better you'll be.

Follow these links to learn more. If you would like to author a guest article, please contact Wilene.

Wilene Says...
  1. All students must wear blue jeans, breeches or jodhpurs and riding boots or hard soled shoes. Extra shorts, t-shirts, and casual shoes can be brought to change into during casual time.
  2. Certified ASTM and CSI riding helmets must be worn when in the presence of a horse or horses. Pony Brook Stables has limited helmets available.
  3. Students need to bring their own lunch and drink. A refrigerator is available. A water drinking container is highly recommended so that it can be refilled throughout the day.
  4. All students must have a liability form filled out before they are allowed into the barn area near the horses.
  5. Due to the weight limitations for our horses and sensitive issues involving children and weight, Pony Brook Stables asks that if a child is considered obese that their parent speaks to Wilene before signing up for camp.
