What We Do

All Day Horseback Riding Lessons

Students interested in all day lessons arrive at Pony Brook, located near Harrison High School in Lafayette, Indiana,  in the morning. They spend the day with the horses and get the opportunity to ride.

Group Riding Lessons

When a student first begins at Pony Brook Stables we have a skill level assessment lesson. The student will either be added to group lessons or will have half-hour private lessons until the skill level has increased enough to add the student to a class. The classes are separated by skill level. Levels at Pony Brook range from 1 to 10. Students will be tested on their skills and horse knowledge and if they pass, they will be moved up to the next level.

Group lessons consist of 2-4 students. These riding lessons are on the flat, which means that they are under saddle and not jumping.

We offer a family discount to multiple riders.

Jumping Lessons

At Pony Brook Stables we believe that it is beneficial for the students to observe others jumping. Riders who participate in jumping classes must also be enrolled in a flat class at least once a week. There are three different levels of jumping classes:

  • beginner
  • intermediate
  • advanced

Private Horseback Riding Lessons

Pony Brook Stables offers the option of private or semi-private lessons. Semi-private lessons only have two students. We also are willing to hold off-premise lessons for students. If you think private lessons might be your first step in learning horseback riding, contact Wilene today for more information.

4-H English Horseback Riding Program

Pony Brook Stables offers horses and ponies to interested students in order for a student to become involved with 4H. Wilene offers English Jumping clinics at little or no charge to any 4H Horse and Pony Club.

Equestrian Shows

Showing gives students encouragement to improve and strive for the next level. Students that show horses and compete in equestrian events discover pride in their actions and appearance, which boosts their confidence and self esteem.
